`I am glad to hear of Plotinus entering the discussion. In my ignorance I also value the brief discussion of Federico Faggin.
Discussion of the broader range of consciousness and mind is of potential practical value and possibly an aid for sustainable human and creature kind. (As a retired plant scientist of sorts I would include 'the plants' et al.)
Beyond personal anecdote I share much of the traditional views/perspectives usefully sketched in by Rupert, as he says, 'seen previously everywhere'. CS Lewis gave us (in The Discarded Image) the reasons why we have eyes and ears; reasons he attributed to Plato.
Personal experience for me has been shored up, not negated, by my fairly sceptical / cautious thought reactions, but it has been on occasion a shock to see glimpses through the eyes of others, even on occasion other creature non-human eyes. One's consciousness does a sudden step-jump, images are faster than we think!

Thanks both.
